FAQ / Most common repairs

Problem with lights but scooter runs?

Use multimeter to measure converter under the drivers seat, three wires, 48V + ground in and 12V out. Converter is the smaller aluminium box. This applies to situations when whole 12V system is down.

Oil drop in ground?

It is normal to leak a drop or two every now and then. RPM in differential gear is really low and really small amount is enough to provide sufficient lubrication. We fill 1,8dl because it is maximum amount you can fill before the oil starts leaking out simply because there is too much, in normal use. With some rally / trial drivers that 1,8dl is too much and the leak usually stops itself at some point.

Speedometer doesn’t show whole mileage?

Yes it does, if you turn power off and on, the first couple second you see the total mileage driven, after that it goes to the trip mode.

Customer has done special tunings or has been ”fixing” the vehicle

When installing your own accessories, it is important for the device warranty that they are not powered by the device battery. If something MIGHT be broken because of what customer has done himself, the possible affect to warranty need to be clarified before action. If you are not sure, contact us.

Troubleshooting checklist

Leijona 1300+ series

Problem: scooter doesn’t move.

Common solutions.

-Ignition on? Turn the key clockwise

-Kill switch position? Red hazard flasher switch on right hand side

-Main switch on? Under the seat

-Magnetic brake lever position? Under rear bumper, up free to push mode, down drive mode

-Which running mode is on? R N D, R reverse, N neutral, D drive forward

-Battery charge? Voltage okay? check from the speedometer, charge if not full. If full but drops rapidly after twisting the throttle and battery is really REALLY fully charged, then need to go further. Something is not right.

-Does the brake light light up? yes -> move on. no -> its already on or broken, if it’s on you should find the problem from brake sensors or kill switch

-Magnetic brake cables, connectors and sensor.

Really common issue why scooter doesn’t move. Magnetic brake cable connector need to be checked first after the basics.

-Does the scooter roll without drag when power and magnetic brake are off? If not, problem is most likely motor or controller.

-Twitching run? which mode? In most cases mild twitching is normal, especially with running modes 1 and 2. It might also be tires that just needs more riding. Most cases it is something normal.

-Speed is low or ride feels powerless.

Is the tyre pressure right? Battery fully charged? Correct charger, charger plugged, socket has electricity? speed mode? Brakes need adjusting? Too much load? Driving only uphill? Driving middle of woods or fields?

If everything is okay, need service, probably one or two batteries gone bad.

-Short and long lights

There might be icons that say short and long beam, but in some models it is supposed to be just

on/off switch for lights.

-Battery indicator shows full charge when standing still, but goes down rapidly when driving.

Correct charger? socket works? charger plugged? battery charged? is the battery really charged?

Battery indicator measures the voltage. you need to drive normally steady medium speed to see the actual level of charge.

-Noises, differential gear, vibrating echo, resonating sound, brake discs

Because our products does not have traditional combustion engine you can hear other usually mild sounds which can irritate some customers. Find out if it is a real problem or not (usually not) and explain that it is normal. Brakes and motor usually cause this.

-Ride feels bumpy

Most of the cases are unnecessary contacts. Most common with new vehicles. Vehicle just needs more driving.

If old vehicle suddenly starts acting weird then there might be something wrong.

-Charger does not charge the batteries

Correct charger?

Charger plugged on?

Socket has electricity? Did you test with some other electric device that the socket really has electricity?

Charger needs load before measuring if it charges or not. start charging and measure voltage from main battery poles / main wires.
